Department of Computer Science Conducts ICT Curriculum Revision Workshop

The Department of Computer Science, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, hosted a pivotal workshop to revise the ICT curriculum, ensuring it reflects the latest advancements in the technology sector. The event, led by the Head of the Department, Dr. P. Ravindra S. De Silva, brought together the department’s esteemed staff members including Prof. R.G.N. Meegama, Prof. T. G. I. Fernando, Prof. Prasad M. Jayaweera, Mr. D. D. A. Gamini, Mr. M.D.R. Perera, Dr. T.M.K.K. Jinasena, Dr. Ravimal Bandara, Dr. P. S. S. Tissera, Dr. Anuradha Ariyaratne, Ms. Umanda Dikwatta, Mr. D. A. P. Peiris, Mr. Thisura Embuldeniya, and Ms. S.A.M.P. Udeshika., who collectively contributed valuable insights to the discussion.

The Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Prof. Upul Subasinghe, and the Assistant Registrar also contributed significantly to the event’s success by participating and providing the necessary financial and administrative support.

During the workshop, in-depth discussions were held on incorporating emerging topics such as DevOps, Cloud Computing, Modern Web Development, and Full-Stack Development into the curriculum. Each participant provided valuable perspectives and expertise, significantly enriching the discourse and ensuring a comprehensive revision process.

Dr. De Silva highlighted the importance of aligning the ICT curriculum with global technological advancements to prepare students for dynamic career opportunities in the tech industry. The contributions of the other participants further reinforced the collaborative effort to create a well-rounded and future-ready curriculum.

The revised curriculum is set to be implemented soon, benefiting students of the ICT degree program by equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an ever-evolving digital world.
